Planning
Typical Flora currently growing on
a Restored Vein MIneral Site
Planning controls have become more stringent in recent years with Environmental Impact Assessments being required for all sites. Glebe Mines has to demonstrate a high level of commitment to current and future controls, using the industry’s accepted best practice to attain final restoration to a high standard. To be able to demonstrate this Glebe Mines now takes on all processes associated with bringing a new site on stream, operating and restoring it, whilst working in close co-operation with the Peak Park planners and ecologists.
Glebe Mines also actively seeks to impose the same high standards on its external ore suppliers.
Ore Procurement Policy
An old mining area after restoration
Glebe Mines aims to secure the ongoing supply of UK Acid Grade fluorspar through its supply of crude ore from operations that meet the objectives of sustainable developments. Glebe Mines is committed to achieving this whilst minimising the environmental impacts of all its operations and those of its suppliers. The Company endeavours to operate to the highest standards, incorporating best practice methods and providing management control and resources. The Company recognises its sensitive location in the Peak District National Park and accepts that its ongoing and future operations attract the greatest degree of scrutiny and must meet the highest standards of planning and environmental control. This must also extend to individuals and Companies that supply Cavendish Mill. As such the Company will assist ore suppliers with planning and environmental management, and will only accept crude ore for processing at Cavendish Mill from responsible operators with valid planning consents and who share the same aims and meet the high operational and environmental standards as the Company.
